Who are Lufthansa?

The national airline of Germany, Lufthansa operate a fleet of modern, well equipped planes based mainly around the Airbus fleet.

They’ve been about in one form or another since 1926 and are known for good, dare I say efficient service. Whilst they’re not an obvious choice of airline for those able to fly from London they make a good alternative for those flying from from regional airports for whom a transfer in Frankfurt is no more effort than Heathrow.

Where do Lufthansa fly to in Australia?

The major international destination airports for UK departures are Sydney, Perth and Melbourne.

How good are Lufthansa ?

Lufthansa hold dear the values of their nation and are a fine ambassador for everything good about Germany. The cabin staff are excellent and everything runs like clockwork. Food is of a good standard and the economy cabin is one of the most comfortable.

First Class travellers can look forward to being ferried to the plane from the first class lounge in Frankfurt by Porsche Cayenne or Mercedes s-Class.

Skytrax rate them as a Four Star Airline which places them in the top 20% of airlines in the world.

What else should I know about Lufthansa ?

The name Lufthansa is derived from Luft, the German for air, and Hansa after Hanseatic League, a powerful German medieval trading group.

They are part of the Star Alliance so people with BMI frequent flyer cards can earn, or spend air miles with Lufthansa.
